Research shows that children and young people that spend a lot of time on social media are more often dissatisfied with their bodies than others. Comparisons and exposure to unrealistic body ideals is one part of it, and algorithms and “rabbit holes” is another. Body image and eating disorders
It’s also natural that sometimes a person may want to change or eliminate something about their appearance. The problems arise when you start thinking that it’s necessary to be thinner or to achieve certain body shapes to feel enough for yourself and others, and begin to diet, restrict food, or otherwise excessively focus on your appearance. Such behaviour can lead to or be caused by eating disorders.
The most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating.

Akvilė is interviewed by members of the Children’s Line Advisory Team, Ugnė and Rokas.
