Digital manual "Be Internet Awesome!" Part 2

This teacher’s guide aims to support educators in delivering lessons on safe and responsible internet use. It includes ready-to-use worksheets and activity ideas designed primarily for children aged 9–12, though many of the concepts can be adapted for other age groups as well.

The activities require no prior professional training or special equipment, and preparation is simple. The lessons can be enriched with the online game “Interland”.

The curriculum is structured around five key themes of digital citizenship and online safety, helping every child become “Internet Awesome”:

  • Thoughtful and responsible information sharing: digital footprint and communication.
  • Recognizing scams and misinformation: phishing, fraud, and reliable sources.
  • Protecting personal information: online privacy and safety.
  • Kindness online: combating negative behavior on the internet.
  • Dealing with online challenges: suspicious content and dangerous situations.

The "Be Internet Awesome" program is flexible and can be tailored to students of different ages and knowledge levels. Teachers are encouraged to choose the topics and materials that best suit their class.

Each section of the program includes:

  1. A vocabulary list to help students understand key terms (with guidance on how to use it);
  2. A presentation with definitions and practical examples;
  3. A different number of worksheets and supporting materials per topic.

The manual was developed by the 'Szkoła z Klasą' Foundation within the framework of the 'Be Internet Awesome!' program in cooperation with Google. The publication was adapted into Latvian by the Latvian Safer Internet Centre.
