Better Internet for Kids

When changing your login to two steps verification, an extra security check is added to your apps and your accounts. By adding this extra step, you're better protected against hacking. Is it hard? This guide explains to you that is is actually very easy and quick!

The National Cybersecurity Centre, through the Safe Internet Centre project and in partnership with the Order of Psychologists, launches the awareness campaign "What the internet says about you!” This awareness-raising project aims to promote safe online behaviour and is targeted at older adults.

In recent years, the increase in the number of cyber security incidents and cybercrimes, as well as the increasing use of digital technologies at a personal and professional level, has made it imperative to constantly raise awareness of basic cyber security precautions among the population.

The storyboards are created by the Safe Space club, in collaboration with the Dutch helpline Helpwanted. The initiative started to share knowledge and expertise among the different followings of both organizations.
As young people usually retrieve information by social media, the storyboards are being posted on social media explaining the different situations. Knowledge on the right definition, what to do and available help is shared.

This tool checks your digital legacy and will guide you through making the best decisions.

The Dutch helpline created a workshop to treat online safety for social workers and teacher who are working with young people with mild intellectual disabilities. This workshop could either be held by a helpline worker who is treating these topics with professionals, or professionals could use this workshop to educate and practice themselves on the topic,

Youth participation in the digitalised world is nowadays a topic of high interest in the public sphere. The authors of this publication aim to bring new perspectives and varied visions to the key questions of understanding how young people interact with all the opportunities the digital space has to offer, and how they can use this space for causes relevant not only for themselves, but also for the democratisation of the societies in which they live.

Slachtofferhulp Nederland has created the letter and posted it on their website. The letter can be sent to someone threatening to spread nude images without consent. This letter can be used as a defense for victims who are being threatened. Although it doesn't guarantee the perpetrator to stop spreading images, it could feel better for a victim to be able to do something. The Dutch police also supported this letter.

A letter-template is being shared, which can be adjusted to personal requirements.

An updated version of the lesson plan on Grooming has been written by the Dutch helpline. The students will learn what Grooming entails, what the law says about Grooming, how groomers typically act and how to recognize a groomer. They will practice on how to deal with a groomer when they are approaching.
The students will learn to decide about their own limits, in the online world. They will learn how to deal with a situation such as grooming and will know where to get help and how to talk about it.

An updated version of the lesson plan on Sexting has been written by the Dutch helpline. The students will learn what Sexting entails, what non consensual intimate image sharing is (or sexting abuse) and what the consequences are when sharing an intimate image of someone without their consent. The students will learn to think about their own limits, their own wishes and how the respect the wishes/limits of others. At last, victim blaming is treated and how to look for help when a problem or questions arise.
