The National Cybersecurity Centre, through the Safe Internet Centre project and in partnership with the Order of Psychologists, launches the awareness campaign "What the internet says about you!” This awareness-raising project aims to promote safe online behaviour and is targeted at older adults.
Living in an increasingly technological society, this group with low digital literacy wants to feel included. In this sense, the older adult population has embraced the use of mobile devices, computers and tablets, with the desire to bridge the generation gap with the younger generation - children and grandchildren. They have modernised and adopted some of the practices common to younger generations, starting to shop online, contact family and friends via digital platforms, have teleconsultations, join social networks and many other activities carried out in a digital environment.
Therefore, it was essential to strengthen their knowledge and help them to address this lack of skills in a dynamic, tangible and practical way, taking advantage of the motivation and need they felt.
The older adult population identifies with the “What the Internet Says About You!” Awareness campaign because of the information provided by well-known personalities of their generation, such as Júlia Pinheiro and Júlio Isidro. Here, the good practices shared by a "familiar face" make it possible to learn good practices for using the Internet in a playful and light-hearted way.
