At a time when child online safety has become an increasingly complex challenge, iSIGURT.al and ALO 116 111 have built a broad institutional cooperation model to address digital risks. This model has proven to be highly effective in identifying and shutting down harmful websites, as well as tracking individuals responsible for inciting online violence. The collaboration with the State Police and the Cybercrime Unit of the Local Police Directorate in every district of Albania has demonstrated that an integrated and coordinated approach is key to protecting children in the digital space.
To create a standardised approach in handling online risk cases, ALO 116 has worked in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports to develop professional protocols for child protection. These protocols aim to guide teachers, social workers, and psychologists in systematically addressing cases, ensuring structured support for students in schools and educational institutions.
Another significant step in strengthening child protection against online risks has been parental involvement. The collaboration with the Parent Council of schools in Tirana has helped raise awareness of digital safety and encouraged a proactive parental approach to child protection. Through mechanisms such as iSIGURT.al and ALO 116 111, parents have been directly engaged in supporting and educating children about online risks.
A particularly successful model has been the organisation of open awareness sessions in schools. In 45 schools across Tirana, Elbasan, Korça, Kavaja, and Durrës, iSIGURT.al, in partnership with ALO 116, has conducted activities with students and parents, creating essential spaces for discussions on online safety. With over 1,996 students and 63 parents involved, these activities have significantly contributed to raising awareness and equipping young people with the necessary skills for safe internet navigation.
A major milestone was the participation of iSIGURT.al and ALO 116 111 in SID in February 2025, which has served as a model of an integrated approach to child protection in the digital space. The 24/7 service, effective online safety interventions, development of professional protocols, parental awareness initiatives, and student educational activities all demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding children and young people in Albania. These efforts have not only addressed existing challenges but have also established a sustainable and replicable model for strengthening child safety both online and beyond.
