About our SID activities

In Albania, Safer Internet Day has taken place since 2005. This year, all campaign partners will organise activities across the country, while the main activities anticipated so far are as follows:

  • The launch of the National Campaign "Together for Safer Internet" on 11 February 2025 in schools, media and social networks. This year's campaign is organised in close coordination with public authorities, civil society and partners from the internet industry. In public schools, the first lesson will be dedicated to informing children on how to protect themselves from bullying and hate speech in cyberspace. Our partners ALO 116-111, Save the Children, SHKEJ, AKSK and ASHMDF will organise awareness meetings with parents, teachers and students in schools and the community.

  • The 10th National Forum on Safer Internet, which this year is dedicated to combating online bullying and hate speech against children and marginalised groups. The forum is an annual event and a space for discussion, presentation, and creation of joint initiatives between public authorities, civil society, and the internet industry.

  • Presentation of the National Report on Children’s Online Incidents in Albania, which is an annual publication that shows incidents reported near iSIGURT.al children and adolescents during their online navigation. Public authorities and our partners, such as the State Police and AKSK, also present the data and issues they encountered online during 2024.

  • The establishment of the National Alliance against Online Bullying and Hate Speech, an informal network of organisations, experts and institutions that want to advocate for the safety and protection of citizens in the digital space and strengthened our voice in a new but important field and coordinated response to the need for more protection for children and young people.

  • A special space this year is dedicated to children and young people and empowering them in the positive and respectful use of cyberspace. For this purpose, SIC Albania will announce "Safe Internet Ambassadors in Schools", first in Tirana and then throughout Albania.

  • For the first time, we will dedicate a space to safety in the cyberspace of children and young people with disabilities. Our partner MEDPAK and iSIGURT.al will hold an "Open Forum: Are children with disabilities protected in the digital space?" – where parents and organisations working for children with AK will share their experiences and the problems that have been identified so far.

  • Together with the State Social Services and National Agency for Child Rights and Protection, we will hold the Online Forum: "Protecting Children in digital space: The Role of Professionals in Residential Care and Child Protection system"

  • Finally, an artistic performance on the consequences of online and offline sexual violence and exploitation will be staged by the acclaimed artist and our Safer Internet Ambassador: Ema Andrea. "Games in the Backyard" is a play based on the story of a sexually exploited girl.
