Launch of the Roadshow "ZIGZAGA na NET - Navegar a Cores" for Safer Internet Day 2024

The Safer Internet Day celebrations, which took place from 6 to 8 February in Viseu, Portugal, were marked by the launch of an innovative digital awareness resource: the colouring book "ZIGZAGA na NET - Navegar a Cores". The book was developed with the aim of promoting children's digital literacy and is based on "ZigZaga na Net. Novas aventuras", which in turn was inspired by the stories of the second season of the ZigZaga podcast.

This colouring book is much more than just a pastime. It is a significant educational project that aims at introducing kindergarten children to the basics of cyber hygiene. As the digital world attracts an increasingly younger audience, the book comes at just the right time to navigate these topics with attention and care. What makes the "ZIGZAGA na NET - Navegar a Cores" initiative so special is its approach of combining play and education. It offers children a fun, off-screen colouring activity that also teaches them the principles of online safety. This method is proving effective in engaging kindergarten children and teaching them important knowledge in a way that captures their imagination.

In a digital age where the intertwining of technology with everyday life is inevitable, educating new generations about positive technological integration is not only beneficial, but imperative. By turning the act of colouring into a learning experience, the initiative encourages an enriching interaction with technology from the ground up. The physical version of "ZIGZAGA na NET - Navegar a Cores" was officially launched on 8 October, kicking off a nationwide roadshow. This tour aims to promote digital education throughout Portugal. It includes  20-minute presentations with a video by Zig Zag Radio and texts by author Fátima éffe. The response? Nothing short than exuberant, especially among younger audiences.

The roadshow began with a series of visits to three schools in the Viseu region, where it was received with overwhelming enthusiasm. The children were delighted by the interactive sessions, which took place in eight different classrooms. The satisfaction was also high among teachers, who praised the initiative for its educational value.

In an encouraging sign of commitment to accessible education, each child received their own copy of the colouring book to continue the experience at home, all at no cost to the participants. This gesture underlines the deep commitment to fostering a digitally literate future generation. By instilling a love of learning and equipping children with the knowledge to use the internet safely, "ZIGZAGA na NET - Navegar a Cores" is a beacon of hope. It paves the way for a better digital future — a future where children can surf the internet with confidence and creativity.
