7 February 2023 was the opening of the Day for Safe Internet for Children in Albania, with the engagement of different media outlets, organisations, schools, teachers, children and teenagers, security officers and parents, stimulated a wide social discussion and above all the information of parents and children about online security.
On 9 February 2023, the national campaign "Isn't your photo intimate? Don't share it - Report it!" launched. Today, children and young people have become producers of intimate content, which they exchange with their peers. However, these materials can easily be distributed from mobile phones and tablets and become viral without the child's permission. We want children to be careful and know where to seek help if such an incident occurs.
On 10 February 2023, the national safer internet report was released to the public. This is an annual iSIGURT publication that analyses incidents reported by children while using the internet, and provides recommendations for state institutions and the digital industry.
To support teachers, psychologists and professionals in schools to organise safe internet activities in every school in Albania on Safer Internet Day 2023, the Albanian Safer Internet Day Committee developed the platform "Development of an awareness hour for Safe Internet for Children within the framework of the International Safer Internet Day (SID 2023)” with the main goal to be safe and report the incidents we encounter while surfing the internet.
