Keep your space safe: Campaign to strengthen cybersecurity

The Safer Internet Centre of Luxembourg ran a campaign during the previous school year in which they shared useful information about cybersecurity and related issues.

In response to an increase of contacts to the consultation service BEE SECURE Helpline regarding fraudulent e-crime activities, the initiative and Safer Internet Centre of Luxembourg BEE SECURE decided to focus its campaigning activities around strengthening cybersecurity over the course of the last school year 2023/24.

The campaign focused particularly on cybersecurity basic skills, phishing, sextortion and the hacking of personal accounts.

Protecting personal data online with the right precautions

BEE SECURE presented a series of tips (lifehacks) to best protect personal devices and data from a range of online risks. These lifehacks, in the form of expert videos, are available here

Campaign material from the cybersecurity campaign in Luxembourg.

The videos were further underpinned by dynamic social media posts, the dissemination of video snippets and humorous short clips.
The main tips from the Keep your space safe campaign were:

  • Enable automatic backups; for example, in a cloud.
  • Think before you click.
  • Verify new friends on social media beforehand.
  • A password can also be a phrase.

Helpful supporters

Numerous partners of BEE SECURE supported the Keep your space safe campaign. For example, BEE SECURE worked together with telecommunications service providers who amplified the campaign's visibility by distributing the flyer ‘Secure your smartphone’ in their shops across Luxembourg.

Additionally, a large amount of municipalities, schools, youth centres, day care centres (Maison Relais), general practitioners, police stations, and many other actors supported the campaign by spreading its content.
