Design thinking workshop

On 7 and 9 July 2025, the Portuguese Safer Internet Centre (SIC) took part in the design thinking workshop led by the “Innovation and Analytics” Lab at NOVA IMS, in Lisbon.

This initiative, which also included members of the SIC Portugal Advisory Board and several invited young participants, had the main goal to support the strategic design of SIC Portugal’s project proposal for the next three-year period.

Day 1 was dedicated to exploring challenges and generating creative ideas. The participants took part in a brainstorming session guided by generative AI, followed by organising and clustering the ideas along action axes. This process allowed the group to build a comprehensive map of innovative proposals, categorised into areas such as digital skills, parental awareness, media literacy, and youth participation. The session ended with the creation of project posters, where each group consolidated its main idea.

On day 2, the group focused on defining and structuring a strategic plan and participated in a collective discussion to select the priority projects. The selected ideas were then turned into concrete strategic plans by defining objectives, key results, and initiatives. The session concluded with a collective validation of the decisions, and a final sharing of the outputs.

The work produced during this initiative created a foundation for developing the new proposal as it constitutes a solid foundation for the new strategic cycle of SIC Portugal, allowing efforts to be aligned, synergies to be leveraged, and to create a structured response to current and emerging challenges in digital citizenship and cybersecurity, focusing on strategic audiences such as children and young people, including those from vulnerable backgrounds, parents and caregivers, and teachers and educators.
