On 4 March 2026, the Croatian Safer Internet Centre opened its fourth office, located in Pula. The office opened its doors in the largest city in Istria with the aim of strengthening the protection of children and young people in the digital environment.
The ceremonial opening was attended by the President of the Region, Boris Miletić, and Vice-President of the Region, Gordana Antić, with their associates, the Head of the Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and the Croatian Safer Internet Centre, Tomislav Ramljak, the Croatian Ombudsman for Children, Tatjana Katkić Stanić, as well as other guests.
With the opening of the Safer Internet Centre Croatia office, Istria gains a permanent support mechanism in the field of digital safety for children and young people. The Centre’s goal is to systematically strengthen awareness, knowledge, and the capacities of the entire community to protect the rights and well-being of children in the digital environment. Activities in the region will be implemented through educational, preventive, and counselling programmes.

The centre will operate as a place of knowledge, support, and prevention, with a special focus on educating children and young people, empowering parents, and strengthening the competencies of teachers and professional associates in recognising and preventing online risks - from cyberbullying and grooming to sexual extortion and screen addiction. At the same time, special attention will be given to educating parents, grandparents, and the wider community so they can recognise risky situations and respond in a timely manner.
By opening the office in Pula, an important step has been taken in expanding the support network, and further strengthening of this network at the national level has already been announced.
