“CORNHUB ≠ REALITY”: BEE SECURE raises awareness about online porn representations

The Safer Internet Centre in Luxembourg launched the campaign “CORNHUB ≠ REALITY” to raise awareness about how online pornography distorts reality and promotes unrealistic ideas about sex, bodies, and relationships.

Pornographic content is widespread on the internet and just a few clicks away. Young people often come across it at an early age, which can shape how they view sexuality, gender roles, and relationships.

After raising awareness about the dangers of deepfakes and AI-generated disinformation at the end of 2024, BEE SECURE is now tackling another important topic: with its new campaign “CORNHUB ≠ REALITY”, the initiative highlights how online pornography gives a distorted view of reality.

Porn isn’t real life

According to the BEE SECURE Radar 2025, almost 60 per cent of young people aged 12 to 17 believe that their peers watch porn at least occasionally. But porn is scripted and often presents unrealistic expectations about sex, body image, and social roles.

BEE SECURE encourages young people to think critically and understand that porn is mainly a commercial product — far from real intimacy, communication, or health.

Who creates this content – and why?

The campaign also explains how the porn industry works. It is mostly run by large companies but also sees more and more self-produced content. The goal is to help young people understand what’s behind these images and why they are made.

A fictional world to raise awareness

Like in the previous campaign on deepfakes, BEE SECURE again uses the colorful and fictional world of the “Cyber Jungle.” With the slogan “Don’t believe everything online”, this fun and creative approach shows that many online contents — especially pornography — are far from reality.

Visuals created with artificial intelligence

The visuals of the campaign were made using artificial intelligence (AI). This shows how modern technology can be used to create digital content, but also how it can be used to manipulate what we see.

Multi-channel outreach for greater impact

The campaign will be shared on social media, through public posters, and with the support of local influencers. The aim is to reach as many young people as possible and help them recognize misleading content online and think more critically.
