It's officially been two years since the adoption of the BIK+ strategy, which aims to improve age-appropriate digital services and ensure that every child is protected, empowered, and respected online. We are now in the process of evaluating the strategy’s progress and successes over the past two years.

The ALL DIGITAL Weeks campaign is one of the major pan-European awareness raising campaigns on digital skills for inclusion, empowerment and employment. It is organised by ALL DIGITAL Network, and it has been running since 2010. Since then, the campaign has helped almost 1,5 million people to get online for the first time, or to improve their digital skills.

Children have unprecedented access to information and resources that can shape their perceptions and aspirations for the future. According to recent findings, most children express that the internet is pivotal in confirming their beliefs about career paths. However, these opinions are far from definitive, with nearly half of them actively exploring alternative options online.

In Denmark there is a strong focus on strengthening digital literacy among children and young people. A key player in this work is SSP (School, Social Services and Police), which works in collaboration with municipalities across the country to prevent crime and create a safe analogue and digital environment for young people. The Media Council for Children and Youth and thea Centre for Digital Youth Care have often used the SSP network in Denmark in the context of projects that require direct contact with young people.

In May 2022, the Danish awareness centre, The Media Council for Children and Young People, launched 'The First Digital Steps': a national initiative on 0–6-year-olds and digital media. The project remains relevant in the Danish context.
