The digital landscape is a vibrant space for children and young people, but it also presents unique and evolving challenges for child safety, particularly concerning online child sexual abuse material (CSAM). From real-time abuse occurring during livestreams to the increasing prevalence of self-generated content and online coercion, the nature of CSAM is rapidly transforming. To address these urgent issues, on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, the Insafe delegation co-hosted together with the Centre for Democracy & Technology a workshop session at the annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025 in Lillestrøm, Norway.

The Safer Internet Centre in Luxembourg launched the campaign “CORNHUB ≠ REALITY” to raise awareness about how online pornography distorts reality and promotes unrealistic ideas about sex, bodies, and relationships.

As part of Family Day, an initiative of the José Joaquim Rita Seixas primary school in Portugal, Elsa Caetano, mother and member of the Portuguese National Centre for Cybersecurity Centre, working specifically with the Safer Internet Centre, spoke about her professional role in her child’s kindergarten.

Explore the media literacy campaign “7 days with the media” in Portugal, which aims to highlight the importance of media literacy education for young people, allowing them to be better informed, and use the acquired information to make better decisions.

Following the first evaluation of the BIK+ strategy, new family-friendly resources, a simplified booklet and infographic, are now available to help parents and children easily understand the progress, challenges, and next steps for a safer digital world.

The Insafe network of helplines collects data about the types of calls received, and this is analysed every three months in order to look at possible trends and emerging issues.
