With the start of the new school year, many children and teens are facing a new daily routine: new classes, new friendships, and new conflicts. At the start of the school year, especially, it's worth taking a look at how schools, parents, and teens can identify problems early on and respond in a timely manner. During September's "Back2School" campaign month, the German awareness centre, klicksafe, is supporting schools and parents with a comprehensive selection of up-to-date and practical resources on digital challenges.
Focus on cyberbullying
During this year's Back2School campaign month, klicksafe is placing special emphasis on the topic of cyberbullying. Exclusion, insults, or public humiliation via messaging apps, social media, and class chats can place a significant burden on students and negatively affect daily school life and the classroom environment.
In September, klicksafe is offering educators new teaching guides, resources, and a webinar on cyberbullying. The goal is to address the issue in educational practice, strengthen prevention efforts, and promote respectful interactions in the classroom. In addition, klicksafe is publishing a parent guide on cyberbullying in plain language. In this way, klicksafe hopes to give even more families access to information and strategies for dealing with the issue. Throughout September, teachers and parents will also find posts on the topic of cyberbullying on klicksafe's social media channels.

The highlight of this year's Back2School campaign month is the klicksafe school lesson. Under the motto "Bullied online. Hurt in real life. Together against cyberbullying!", it will take place on 17 September 2026, this time in cooperation with Aktion Mensch and "Nummer gegen Kummer." Aktion Mensch ensures inclusive participation in the digital school lesson through supporting materials in plain language as well as live sign language and written interpretation. "Nummer gegen Kummer" shares its experience from counselling children and adolescents, shows students what they can do, and encourages them to accept support.
The nationwide klicksafe school lesson is aimed at students in grades 5 to 8 and offers teachers a practical and accessible teaching resource on the topic of cyberbullying. Starting at 10:00 CEST, registered classes can participate in the 60-minute livestream and then explore the topic in greater depth in class using free accompanying materials. klicksafe expects more than 50,000 students to join live online in the school lesson!
After the school lesson, all participating classes will be invited to take part in a follow-up action: submitting ideas or projects that help create a better, more respectful school climate. Submissions will be judged by a youth jury and three winners will be awarded.
