In March 2024, the Portuguese Safer Internet Centre (CIS) partnered up with the Godinhela Association and gave a webinar on the topic “Disinformation and Cybersecurity” to several educators. This webinar is part of a webinar series covering topics related with media and information literacy and is part of the MIC-MAC project.
MIC-MAC is a project aiming at enhancing the media and information literacy skills of educators who work with vulnerable learners. It combines ‘micro-learning’ with interactive gaming to help educators apply these skills to the challenges of real-life teaching situations and the ‘lived experience’ of their learners.
In this webinar, several topics in the intersection between disinformation and cybersecurity were discussed, namely the link between disinformation and social engineering campaigns, to raise awareness among the educational community. The webinar ended with an overview of the resources produced by CIS and its partners which may be helpful to educators when working with their students.
Other material is available on the project website, such as the Training Programme and the MIC-MAC Transferability Toolkit, which aims to help future sponsors understand the underlying principles of the MIC-MAC Programme and enhance use of its tools and content.
