The kick-off was held by the coordinator of the CNCS, Lino Santos, who inspired with the following words:
The European Cyber Security Month promotes cybersecurity among citizens and organisations in the Member States and provides information on online safety by raising awareness and sharing best practices.
BeSmarterThanAHacker is the theme of this year's campaign, which aims to raise public awareness of social engineering and phishing methods and their impact on cyber security. Throughout October, we will be highlighting the different tactics used by cyber criminals, the warning signs and a range of best practices to prevent citizens from being manipulated and falling victim to crime in the digital environment.
Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and has been the motto underpinning the European Cyber Security Month celebrations since 2012. Therefore, we hope this year's campaign will raise awareness among citizens and organisations in Portugal and Europe.
I want to remind you that the #ReadBeforeClickAfter awareness campaign is available online to reinforce information about the proper use of cyberspace among all people and organisations. Take advantage of European Cyber Security Month to learn more and stay safe online.”
