Students will have a greater understanding of the concept of facial recognition and how it is used in a variety of contexts and the risks and benefits associated with its use. The #TalkListenLearn campaign encourages parents to have open and regular conversations with their child about the internet. To talk to them about benefits and the risks, but also to listen to what their child has to say and to learn about their life online. To help families begin and continue conversations we have developed a topic generator tool. Simply click on the start the conversation button which will serve up a series of questions for families to discuss about how we use the internet.

These Safer Internet Day PowerPoint Presentations aim to provide context to the aim and purpose of Safer Internet Day; an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. These are designed for use with 1st and 2nd class, 3rd and 4th class, and 5th and 6th class. The presentations can be delivered by school leaders or teachers at a whole school assembly. They include some warmer activities that can be used with young people to introduce them to the topic of online safety.

The CAC, UPF and six organisations from European countries offer schools a test to evaluate the skills of pupils aged 14 to 18 in media and digital literacy

A study shows that young Europeans pass the test in terms of their digital technology skills but fail in the critical reading of content
The study, based on almost 9,000 pupils from 7 European countries, proposes that schools should not focus merely on technological aspects but also on critical thinking, detecting fake news and online identity

The Garda Primary Schools Programme is delivered to all classes in primary school level. Gardaí visit each class at least once every academic year and use these visits to engage with children and deliver key safety advice. Be Kind Online, developed in partnership with Webwise is designed to enable 3rd and 4th class pupils to understand what cyberbullying is, how it can hurt someone and how it can be prevented. The lessons in this pack promote respectful communication online and aim to foster a sense of care and respect for others online.

Designed for teachers of 1st and 2nd class, this webinar explores how best to introduce younger pupils to the first steps of accessing and using the internet in a safe and responsible manner. It will look at age appropriate internet safety advice for young children including using the internet safely, communicating online, playing and learning online, getting help and support. During this webinar teachers will be introduced to the new HTML Heroes 1st and 2nd Class edition as a key online safety resource to use when introducing internet safety for this age group.
