”Children and gaming” is a guide for parents about gaming. It provides insight into the positive elements of gaming as well as the things parents should be aware of and pay attention to.
It covers such times as in-game purchases, PEGI, language and time spend. Accompanying each theme is informative and explanatory texts, followed by suggestions on how parents can engage in dialogue with their children. ‘Children and gaming’ is primarily targeted parents. However, pedagogues, teachers or other professionals working with children and gaming may find useful knowledge and inspiration in the guide.
The guide was published on Safer Internet Day 2020 by The Media Council for Children and Young People in collaboration with Save the Children Denmark and Center for Digital Youth Care. It was updated October 2021 with new relevant information.
It was updated again February 2024 with a brand new focus on user retention in video games.
