On 11 February 2025, the Safer Internet Centre Croatia (SIC CRO) marked Safer Internet Day (SID 2025) with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness of digital safety. Activities were held in Zagreb, Split, and Osijek, bringing together children, experts, and various partners to discuss how to create a safer online environment.
The main event took place at Ksaver Šandor Gjalski Primary School in Zagreb. Students, educators, and experts gathered to discuss digital safety and the importance of protecting young people online. A highlight of the event was the innovative chatbot #BOB, which was developed with A1 Croatia. This AI tool is designed to help children explore the digital world safely.

The event was supported by key institutions such as the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, and the Children’s Ombudsperson, who emphasised the importance of this topic. A special thanks to Principal Mario Keča and the school team for hosting the event.
Activities for children across Croatia
In addition to the event in Zagreb, children in Zagreb, Split, and Osijek participated in interactive quizzes, panel discussions and workshops about online safety. These activities helped children better understand responsible online behaviour.
In Split, the Croatian SIC took part in a panel discussion on internet safety, where experts shared insights on how to protect young people online. This panel aimed to increase cooperation between various stakeholders, including experts, educators, and parents, to create a safer digital space for children.

As part of the celebrations, an online quiz competition took place with students from schools in Osijek, Zagreb, and Split. The students tested their knowledge of online safety, and the team from Osijek emerged as the winners!
Digital responsibility conference in Zagreb
The centre also co-organised a conference focusing on digital responsibility. The panel discussion, titled "Digital responsibility: the role of modern tools in children's safety," included experts and representatives from the education sector. They discussed how new technologies can help protect children online.
Looking ahead
The events of SID 2025 helped raise awareness of digital safety and provided valuable information to both young people and adults. The introduction of the #BOB chatbot and the ongoing discussions with experts, educators, and regulators are important steps towards creating a safer online experience for children.

The Croatian SIC will continue working to provide resources and knowledge to ensure that the digital world remains a safe space for young people.
