Insafe network spotlights child online safety at IGF 2025

The Insafe network of European Safer Internet Centres is proud to announce its active participation in the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025, taking place from 23-27 June 2025, in Lillestrøm, Norway.

As a long-standing advocate for children’s rights in the digital world, the Insafe network will play a key role in promoting the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) initiative and raising global awareness around Safer Internet Day (SID) 2026, the flagship campaign that unites millions each year in support of a safer and better internet for children and young people.

Throughout the week of IGF, the Insafe delegation hosted an interactive promotional booth. This space will serve as an open hub for dialogue, resource sharing, and engagement with international stakeholders, providing insights into the European strategy for a Better Internet for Kids (BIK+), tools for educators and families, and materials for promoting Safer Internet Day across regions.

In addition to the booth, the Insafe delegation will co-host a workshop on Wednesday, 25 June 2025 in collaboration with the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT). The session will address one of the most pressing global challenges in child online safety: combating online sexual exploitation of children (CSEA). The session will bring together a diverse panel of global experts from academia, civil society, policymaking, and the tech sector. The 90-minute session will be structured around three key themes, including technology and children’s rights, cross-platform prevention, and policy and legal responses.

Looking ahead

The Insafe network looks forward to meaningful exchanges and fruitful networking opportunities throughout IGF 2025. By collaborating with the global IGF community, the delegation aims to advance the dialogue and action on child online safety, strengthen international partnerships, and reinforce shared priorities to ensure a safer digital environment for all children and young people.
