Better Internet for Kids

Ten stands were on show at the DigiRallye to help children learn about the key issues in the digital world. The BEE SECURE team from National Youth Service (Service national de la jeunesse, SNJ) were in charge of several stands. The first stand enabled participants to actively consider the security of passwords. Another stand encouraged children to test the veracity of the videos they were shown. The objective was to draw their attention to the fake images that circulate on the internet today. Also, the ‘Kanner schwätzen’ workshop gave children the opportunity to discuss their initial experiences on the internet. 

As in previous years, the event was able to call upon the support of its partners to manage the activities throughout the day: 

• The ‘Violence Barometer’ workshop, run by the KJT (Kanner-Jugendtelefon), demonstrated how an emotional reaction can vary from one person to another. For example, during an exercise, children placed various images on the violence barometer. 
• For its part, the ‘Media Factory’ team of the SNJ gave children the opportunity to create attractive photo collages in an intuitive way. 
• Colleagues from Base 1 and Code Club Luxembourg showed children the benefits of media and technology and how these tools can be used creatively, especially in the case of robotics. 
• At the Police stand, children had to drive a go-kart across an obstacle course. The emphasis was placed on keeping their eyes on the route and how it can be affected by using a smartphone while driving. 
• As part of the Memory Phishing game, organised by the Banque et caisse d’épargne de l’Etat, the attention of children was drawn towards emails. They learned that a bank would never ask its customers for private data by email, and they must always question the veracity of the sender and the content.
• On the makeit a.s.b.l. stand, children were able to make their own key ring and pocket light.
• SprayPeace a.s.b.l. showcased the art of spray painting and its various facets. A fabulous work of art reflecting the mutual respect of our society was created. Moreover, each child was able to contribute to this unique work in their own way.

Once again, this year's summer edition of the DigiRallye was a huge success! Get ready for the winter edition which will take place on 15 February 2023.
