About the organisation
Juventas is a non-governmental organisation founded in Podgorica in January 1996. That year, a group of students, with financial support from the Open Society Institute of Montenegro, launched the youth magazine "Juventas". The goal was to create a media outlet dedicated to the ideas, interests and challenges faced by young people. Today's Juventas emerged from that initiative and was originally known as the Juventas Youth Cultural Centre.
Juventas's mission is to enhance social cohesion and help build a community to the measure of all. It does so by promoting active youth participation, developing public policies and advocacy, providing innovative and sustainable support services for the socially excluded, and empowering key stakeholders in this process.
Awareness centre
Juventas continuously works on raising awareness among children and young people about the safe use of the internet. This work is reflected in conducting research, public announcements, as well as conducting education with children, parents and professionals who work with children/youth. In the following period, Juventas plans to continue implementing similar activities.
Helpline
In addition to education and research, Juventas refers children and young people to institutions that are in charge of protection of children and youth online:

Hotline
There is currently no hotline for safer and better internet issues in Montenegro.
Youth participation
Juventas implements different projects with young people, especially high school students who spend a lot of time on the internet, educating them about media literacy, human rights, the fight against hate speech, gender equality, youth activism, participation in decision-making processes, and the preservation of multinational harmony among young people.
