Better Internet for Kids

"New Alphabets to combat inequalities" is the title of the debate that involved institutions, companies and schools as protagonists at the Ministry of Education on Wednesday 1 December 2021 at the Ministry of Education. Promoted by Save the Children in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, as part of the Safer Internet Center - Generazioni Connesse project, the aim was to encourage a discussion on how to do digital education today in the dialogue between experts, schools and young people .

The Youth Panel of Giffoni Film Festival have made documentaries for Generazioni Connesse. The collaboration between Generazioni Connesse and the Giffoni Film Festival was born with the aim of raising awareness among students on the issue of developing a conscious digital identity, providing young people with the opportunity to try their hand at original and stimulating forms of expression to express their peculiarities. and their visions. Together we want to give girls and boys an opportunity to express their point of view and share their ideas with their peers through tools they know.

In the handbook, parents receive advice on what risks exist for their children on the Internet, how they can recognize them, and how they can teach their children to recognize and avoid them. The printed version of the handbook will be disseminated to parents attending Safe.si trainings. It will be also disseminated to Slovenian Centres for Social Work and some other institutions. Additionally, the handbook is available in pdf version on the project website, where parents can also order a printed copy for free.

The leaflet contains tips on how to take care of your well-being when using the Internet and how to maintain a positive attitude towards it. It is intended for young people.

We also included this leaflet in SID 2022 online package for schools. Our goal is to reach as many young people as possible. The leaflet is therefore available online as a PDF and can be downloaded easily and free of charge.

We have prepared a leaflet for young people explaining which challenges are positive and which are negative, and which challenges we should tackle but which we would be better off leaving out. CTRL is a website for young people who are having sexual thoughts about children. The site contains information and guidance on how you can get help to handle your thoughts and how you can get help to live a good life without hurting yourself or other people. An important feature of the CTRL website is an anonymous self evaluation test in which one can answer questions about one's thoughts and behaviour regarding children. Eventually, the test provides the respondent with the most important information tailored to this person's specific situation.

The Better Internet for Kids (BIK) reviews of the year are typically released to coincide with Safer Internet Day celebrations each year.

These annual reports provide an overview of a multitude of stakeholder efforts to both protect and empower children and young people in their digital lives over the past year, when BIK has focused on making sure that young people are protected, respected, and equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the digital world.
