Safer Internet School Boards

Safer Internet Centre Czech Republic designed, produced and distributed school boards and supporting educational materials to 4.200 registered primary schools (according to the official basic school database by Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports). Their goal is to alert pupils and students to possible pitfalls in the online world in a popular educational way. And if necessary, to serve as a guide for kids while seeking help.

The boards present the most common problems that pupils and students encounter in cyberspace. It is built around eight main topics accompanied with advice how to behave in specific situation. These are as follows:

• How to defend against vulgarities and threats.
• What to show on the Internet.
• How to meet safely.
• How to secure cell phones.
• How to use Wi-Fi safely.
• Risks of sexting.
• How to set password correctly.
• Instructions on how to recognize false information and profiles on the Internet.

The school board also contains contact details for helplines or Safer Internet educational projects. We know from experience that if these contacts are visible, children are more likely to turn to them for help.
