Cyberbullying scavenger hunt

The cyberbullying scavenger is a free online puzzle game for 10 to 14-year-olds. The game involves solving tricky puzzle questions on the topic of cyberbullying. It deals with questions such as: What is cyberbullying? What can I do if I am affected myself? How do I react to hate comments on the Internet?

The players research the answers on Saferinternet.at. Only when a question has been answered correctly do they move on to the next one. There are one or more solution letters for each correct answer. These are collected and finally result in a solution set. This is required to successfully complete the scavenger hunt. Players receive a certificate as a reward for taking part. The players can also see how fast they were compared to the other players by means of a ranking.

The Saferinternet.at scavenger hunt is the perfect mix of puzzle fun and learning tool: Players not only deal intensively with the topic of cyberbullying, they also learn research skills and information literacy in the process.

The scavenger hunt lasts about 45 minutes and is therefore perfectly suited for a teaching unit. Of course, it can also be used in youth work.
