Board Game Kit Enhancing Media Literacy and Digital Skills Among Children in Latvia

Latvian SIC has developed a board game kit for enhancing media literacy and digital skills among children and youth.
The resource is designed as a set of six games. Game instructions and digital versions of the playing cards of all six games are available online for convenient printing and practical use. Each game is dedicated to a specific aspect of media literacy or digital skills offering 30 cards with colourful images, texts, game descriptions, questions and tasks in child-friendly and engaging format.

Six games are aimed to develop skills on these main topics which are presented under the following titles:

1.    Observe, analyze, and act!
2.    Play and think critically!
3.    Read, understand, and comment!
4.    Know, don't guess!
5.    Speak the language of technology!
6.    Be safe online!

Schools, libraries, children and youth organizations are very much invited and encouraged to choose most suitable themes/topics of greatest interest to children and print out to use these when organizing classes, competitions, discussions other events and activities for children and youth within school environment.
Latvian SIC also recommends to use games in activities for children and youth in wider approach like in different cultural and educational regional events organized by the local municipalities throughout Latvia e.g., following ones:

•    Children's summer camps;
•    Family and youth festivals;
•    City and regional events;
•    Youth center meetings and events.

Limited quantity of game kits was crafted in a beautifully printed format and packaging which were delivered to Latvian regions providing our Safer Internet Ambassadors (DIV) with this resource so that they could use and implement them in their local activities. Resource tool have been already widely used during summer time/summer holidays mostly in children’s summer camps.
