Today children in the digital world are exposed to various risks and dangers, despite various preventive programs. Our "Fairy Tales in the Digital World" address these dangers but in a way that is suitable for children, encouraging learning and the development of a critical attitude towards online content, all through metaphors woven into fairy tales. Well-known stories such as "The Three Little Pigs," "The Ugly Duckling," and "Pinocchio" are aimed to educate children and adults about safer and smarter internet use, as well as bridging different generations in what we need most in the context of the digital age - conversation.
The stories are told without changing their original content, but they are infused with metaphors of the digital age. For example, in the tale of "The Three Little Pigs," the straw house serves as a metaphor for insecure passwords, while the brick house is a metaphor for secure ones.
At the end of each story, which is manually illustrated, there are interactive tasks and questions that can only be answered through a joint discussion, involving both adults and children in contemplating the answers, in order to find lessons applicable in the digital era. These fairy tales educate parents and children about safer and smarter internet use and help parents teach children how to be cautious, protected, and secure in a fun and creative way.
"Our Fairy Tales in the Digital World" are intended for preschool-age children and lower grades of primary school.
Through fairy tales, we enhance digital literacy and ensure that our children's adventures in the online world have a happy (safe) ending. The "Fairy Tales in the Digital World" project envisions six published fairy tales, of which three have currently reached the hands of our little ones across Croatia.
