In general, an Acceptable Use Policy addresses the safe, acceptable and responsible use of the internet and digital technologies. It may be used as a framework or customised to reflect individual school circumstances and needs. Webwise have developed a helpful set of guidelines for consideration when developing an AUP. Included in this publication is an AUP template for schools.

Webwise have developed an Acceptable Use Policy Generator which is free for all schools to use. Our easy to use tool allows you to customise an Acceptable Use Policy based on your school needs.

This booklet and generator tool have been updated to include considerations on the use of AI in schools.
