BIK platform onboarding continues

It is great to see so many people registering for the new platform.

A few reminders...

  • Any SIC colleagues who created a registration record in recent weeks but linked themselves to the SIC record will need to go back into their profiles and connect themselves to their organisation instead. Once this is done, a workflow notification will be triggered, allowing your account to be approved.

  • We love seeing colleagues' enthusiasm for submitting resources and helpline case studies, but please note we have not yet fully opened these services for uploads. We will issue detailed instructions later this week.

A kind reminder also that any queries regarding the new platform should be directed to the support helpdesk (or channelled via the contact forms on the platform).

Please note that sign-in is only needed to access the community area of the new platform; the public platform can be accessed and browsed without registration.

Governance

EU survey on gaming

[FINAL REMINDER, FOR INFORMATION AND DISSEMINATION]

We would like to ask for SICs' help in disseminating a new EU survey on gaming. The anonymous survey, aimed at children and young people under the age of 18, aims to better understand the opportunities and risks associated with online gaming for children, from their perspectives. As such, we would appreciate it if you could share the survey via your youth panels and any other appropriate channels or networks.

The survey has been prepared by Simon Gilar and some of his colleagues as part of a research project that aims to investigate, among others, children’s rights in gaming. In particular, the last chapter of this research consists of a case study on gaming, highlighting how it can foster children’s rights and, equally, how it can infringe upon them. Simon and his colleagues are participating in the European Commission's Junior Professionals Programme. As part of this programme, they must complete a research project sponsored and supervised by DG CNECT, DG JUST and DG HOME.

The survey is open for responses until the end of this week, Friday, 15 November 2024.

Can children influence age assurance?

Children have a right to have their say in things that affect them, according to United Nations rules (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)).

Age assurance can affect how children use digital services, such as websites and apps.

How does age assurance relate to children's rights?
