Guide to age assurance section: updated resources now available!

Young people interact with the digital world daily. Whether they’re gaming, chatting with friends, or seeking homework help, they make the most of the countless opportunities for learning and connection that the internet offers. However, this also exposes children and adolescents to risks, such as harmful or age-inappropriate content, often when they least expect it.

Call for content for the next edition of the BIK bulletin

[NEW, FOR INFORMATION AND ACTION]

The next edition of the BIK bulletin will be published in mid-December with a focus on the outcomes of Safer Internet Forum (SIF) 2024. We’ll also be looking ahead to the new AdWiseOnline campaign (launching in January), Safer Internet Day (SID) 2025 and, as is typical for this time of year, we hope to include a few festive tips too. As always, we also invite Safer Internet Centres (and their partners) to contribute with general articles on news, resources or events. The content deadline is COB on Wednesday, 4 December 2024 (and sooner if possible). All contributions or queries should be addressed to content@betterinternetforkids.eu.

As a reminder, we generally suggest that articles should be 300 - 600 words in length (but longer focus pieces are fine too), along with copyright-cleared images/photographs/logos if appropriate. The BIK team reserves the right to edit contributions for house style etc., but we try to keep this to a minimum.

Awareness campaign on AI-generated disinformation

In the age of artificial intelligence (AI), digital disinformation is an increasing challenge, posing a threat to public trust. With this new campaign, BEE SECURE, the Safer Internet Centre of Luxembourg, aims to boost internet users' awareness of the risks of deepfakes and other types of AI-enabled disinformation.

The Better Internet for Kids (BIK) Policy Monitor (previously the BIK Policy Map) has been tracking how European countries support children’s and young people’s digital experiences since 2014. Since its launch a decade ago, the main objective of this series has been to compare and exchange knowledge on policies and actions that promote children's safety and well-being in the digital environment based on the recommended measures of the European Strategy for a Better Internet for Kids (the BIK strategy).
