Why consent matters: advice for teens

Consent is a fundamental part of all relationships. Yet historically, it has been misunderstood or overlooked in society. From outdated norms to gendered expectations, the way we talk about and understand consent has been shaped by cultural and institutional influences.

Casting the net series by the Irish SIC

The Consent Ed programme in Ireland aims to change this by educating young people about the importance of consent, challenging harmful stereotypes, and fostering a culture of respect.

As part of the ongoing youth-led audio series Casting the Net, Molly from the Webwise Youth Panel spoke with Sianna Williams and Alex Black to learn more about the programme, why it’s needed, and how it’s helping to create positive change in schools and communities. The new episode of the "Casting the net" series is available here.

All episodes of Casting the Net are available on the Irish SIC website webwise.ie

Casting the Net is a new youth-led audio series hosted by teens for teens exploring the breadth and depth of our online worlds. In each episode, the net is cast wide to learn about the opportunities and challenges the internet brings, and hear from experts from around the globe.
