Safer Internet Day 2026 was celebrated in Spain with the interactive workshop “Sure! Here’s a suggestion. What would you do?”. More than 10,000 pupils from all over Spain watched the workshop live, alongside their teachers and educators.
On 26 March 2026, the Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), part of the Spanish Safer Internet Centre, celebrated Safer Internet Day 2026 with the interactive online workshop “Sure! Here’s a suggestion. What would you do?”, which was attended online by hundreds of classes from primary and secondary schools across Spain.
For 45 minutes, the Spanish Safer Internet Centre worked with the students on making smart decisions in situations such as the dissemination of intimate images generated by AI, deepfakes related to loot boxes (or spending money in exchange for random rewards in video games), as well as the importance of reporting inappropriate content.
Various scenarios presented in video format, which the students reflected on, and made decisions about. In addition, they were also shown the consequences and explanations in the form of lessons learnt for each step they took.
The need for and importance of addressing these issues from an early age, when children and young people are first exposed to new technologies, is evident from the enthusiastic response to this edition of the online workshop, which was attended by over 10,000 pupils from across the country.
This workshop, developed in collaboration with the National Institute for Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF), aims to encourage children, young people and their immediate communities to use digital technologies safely and positively, by developing their digital skills and helping them to be respectful, critical and creative, in line with European digital principles.
The recording of the workshop is available.
Furthermore, this workshop forms part of the themed campaign that was recently launched on artificial intelligence and digital safety aimed at children and young people, their families and their teachers and educators. More information on the AI campaign is available on INCIBE’s website.
