About our SID activities
The Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), an entity dependent on the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, celebrated Safer Internet Day 2026 with the interactive online workshop “Sure! Here’s a suggestion. What would you do?”, which was attended online by hundreds of classes from primary and secondary schools across Spain. For 45 minutes, we worked with the students on making smart decisions in situations such as the dissemination of intimate images generated by AI, deepfakes related to loot boxes (or spending money in exchange for random rewards in video games), as well as the importance of reporting inappropriate content.
Through various scenarios presented in video format, the students reflected on and made decisions. In addition, they were also shown the consequences and explanations in the form of lessons learnt for each step they took.
The need and importance of addressing these issues from an early age, when children are first exposed to new technologies, is evident from the enthusiastic response to this edition of the online workshop, which was attended by over 10,000 pupils from across the country.
This workshop, developed in collaboration with the National Institute for Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF), aims to encourage children, young people and their immediate communities to use digital technologies safely and positively, by developing their digital skills and helping them to be respectful, critical and creative, in line with European digital principles.
The live workshop can be viewed here: https://www.incibe.es/eventos/sid
Furthermore, this workshop forms part of the themed campaign we have recently launched on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Safety in the context of children and young people, aimed at them, their families and their teachers. Would you like to find out more? Check out the AI campaign!

ABOUT THE LAST EDITION, SID2025
INCIBE joined once again in the international celebration of Safer Internet Day, this year with an event organised in Valencia.
More than 400 students from 6 educational centres in the province of Valencia, that were seriously affected by DANA, accompanied us throughout the day: IES Sedaví (Sedaví), Sedaví school (Sedaví), IES El Quint (Ribarroja), IES Ramón Muntaner (Xirivella), Santa Teresa de Jesús school (El Vedat de Torrent) and IES La Senia (Paiporta).
As part of the programme, the online workshop for educational centres “Think, connect and choose your path on the Internet” was developed, created together with the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF), and taught by the teacher and content creator, Susi Profe. 27,000 students participated in it, both those who were with us in person and those who wanted to accompany us online, from educational centres throughout Spain. They learned to make smart decisions in the face of cyberbullying, harmful content or viral challenges, through various cases that have made them decide and learn the associated consequences.
On the other hand, young representatives of the Children's Platform have conducted the interviews called "Youth asks", directed to Gloria Placer, general director of the Vodafone Foundation; Paula Valle, responsible for Digital Wellbeing and Child Protection at Telefónica and Daniel Morales, director of Sustainability and Foundations at MasOrange, who have contributed their vision on what steps to take to achieve balance in the digital space.
And INCIBE has given the talk "017, the cybersecurity first aid kit", where the 017 service and various real cases received in the field of minors were presented.
Outside the online program, the students attended the cybersecurity theatre performance "Your best move: security", which addresses the risks derived from online gambling in minors, such as extortion or fraud, and a workshop to learn how to protect oneself against viruses and fraud.
In addition to the educational workshop, during the event, the awards were presented for the third edition of the contest ‘What is 017 for you’, created with the aim of making educational centres in Spain and their students aware of the national, free and confidential service 017- Your Help in Cybersecurity from INCIBE.
Find all the information about the event here.
INCIBE and IS4K promoted the event and asked their followers on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to join SID 2025 with the hashtags #SID2025 and #DíaDeInternetSegura.
Moreover, the SIC-Spain project partners contributed to the dissemination and impact of SID by carrying out awareness-raising activities about their participation in the celebrations.
