Better Internet for Kids

Better Internet for Kids is dedicated to promoting a digital environment that aligns with the principles of World Children’s Day. In an era where children are increasingly immersed in the online world, our commitment is to ensure their safety, empowerment and respect in the digital world. 

It commemorates the anniversary of one of the world's most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Over the years, Safer Internet Day (SID) has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Starting as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network as one of its earliest actions in 2005, Safer Internet Day has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in more than 180 countries and territories worldwide.

From cyberbullying to social networking to digital identity, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns.

Safer Internet Day 2027 will be marked throughout the whole month of February. The global day of focus will take place on Tuesday, 9 February 2027.
