National Observatory on Childhood and Adolescence

The National Observatory on Childhood and Adolescence (Osservatorio Nazionale per l'Infanzia e l'Adolescenza) is a national body that coordinates national, regional, and local associations, and non-governmental organisations targeted at children.  

The National Observatory has the task of preparing official documents relating to childhood and adolescence:
- the National Plan of Action and Interventions for the Protection of Rights and Development of Subjects in Developmental Age, drawn up every two years with the aim of giving priority to programs related to minors and of strengthening cooperation for the development of childhood in the world. The National Plan, having acquired the mandatory opinion of the Parliamentary Commission for - - Childhood and Adolescence, is approved by the Council of Ministers, adopted by decree of the President of the Republic and published in the Official Journal
- the Biennial Report on the condition of children in Italy and the implementation of their rights
- the outline of the Government Report to the UN on the application of the 1989 International Convention on the Rights of the Child, at the deadlines indicated in art. 44 of the Convention
