This report by Safe.si (2023) investigates the impact of online pornography on Slovenian teenagers, based on an anonymous online survey conducted from February to April 2023. Key findings show that 44% of primary school and 62% of high school students have viewed online pornography, with significantly higher rates among boys. Most first encountered it between 12-14 years old, though over a third were 9-11. Girls reported more negative initial feelings than boys. Viewing frequency increases with age and is higher for boys. Concerns include addiction (15% of high school students), exposure to violent content (nearly half of primary school students), and the use of pornography for sex education (up to 29% of high school girls). Frequent viewers hold more positive, less critical views, and are more prone to risky online behaviour and harmful sexual attitudes, including normalising violence and stereotypical gender roles. The study highlights a lack of parental discussion and a perceived need for more school-based education on these topics.

The study utilised an anonymous online survey conducted from February to April 2023, as part of Safer Internet Day activities. Questionnaires were distributed to students aged 12-19 in 343 primary and secondary schools across Slovenia via their teachers. A total of 594 primary school students (aged 12-15) and 453 high school students (aged 15-19) participated, completing the survey using the 1KA tool. Teachers were instructed to have students complete the survey either at home or in class, followed by a discussion of the results.
