As part of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) Quality Assurance Programme (QAP), the Insafe-INHOPE Coordination Teams are jointly conducting a set of ten country visits to national Safer Internet Centres (SICs) to better understand what is happening in the Member States: monitoring emerging issues and challenges, identifying good practices to be shared, and harvesting the results of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) policy. Due to circumstances caused by COVID-19 restrictions, the visit to the Swedish Safer Internet Centre was carried out as an online meeting on 15 November 2021.

Safer Internet Day (SID) – which is known as Clean Internet Day in Iran – was celebrated for the fifth year with a special ceremony organised by Anarestan (Amin SMD Co.) and held at the Absal high school in Tehran. The event saw the participation of Rahman Issazadeh, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology of the Ministry of Education.

Poland managed to beat last year’s record of the number of local initiatives organised on Safer Internet Day (SID). The SID 2022 campaign resulted in 4,800 institutions actively involved in undertaking online safety-related initiatives.

On 8 February 2022, Safer Internet Day (SID) was celebrated in more than 170 countries all over the world for its 19th edition, with the motto “Together for a better internet”. The Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) organised a main online event, for a second time, and was livestreamed on the SIC’s Facebook page.

On Tuesday, 8 February 2022, we have called on Safer Internet Day to work together to make the internet a safer and better place for everyone, especially children and young people. The Dutch Safer Internet Centre joined forces with its partners to draw attention to a better internet for children and young people with a new DigiDuck story and other resources.

The National Youth Service (Service National de la Jeunesse - SNJ), the coordination body of the Luxembourg Safer Internet Centre BEE SECURE, has published its first report on the current trends of the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) by young people in Luxembourg. The report was released on 8 February 2022 on the occasion of Safer Internet Day, whose motto for this edition was "Together for a better internet".
