At the 18th annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) held in Kyoto, Japan from 8-12 October 2023, the European network of Safer Internet Centres (SIC) contributed with a workshop on Day 0, titled Youth participation: co-creating the Insafe network. In the second part of the workshop, organised by the Insafe Coordinator in collaboration with the Belgian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese and UK Safer Internet Centres, a special focus was given to empowering of young people and the inclusion of children and young people in vulnerable situations.

This report provides an overview of a multitude of stakeholder efforts to both protect and empower children and young people in their digital lives over the past year, when BIK has focused on making sure that young people are protected, respected, and equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the digital world.
