Resource creation with highlights on youth participation

In the framework of our partnership with the Parisian suburban City of Montreuil, we initiated the production of a new interactive resource as part of the "Stop la violence" investigation series. This initiative aimed to address the issue of non-consensual intimate image abuses. To adhere to our working methodology, we collaborated with a group of young individuals who expressed interest in the project. We not only sought to leverage their experiences and knowledge to shape the main focus of the resource but also actively involved them in the creation process.

The young people who participated in the content creation were invited to play a role in the scenario, then wrote the script with our team and recorded their voices.

The importance of building a respectful collaboration with teenagers

Following the production phase, communication and dissemination became equally, if not more, crucial. We prioritise respecting the individuals' voices and acknowledging their contributions throughout the resource creation and production process. This ensured that the young people were not just participants in a project led by adults but genuine contributors, something they could take pride in.

What's next?

An official event will be organised with the city at the local cinema during the Safer Internet Day. The group of teenagers will showcase the result of their work in the presence of the town's mayor, several stakeholders, the department for the youth of Montreuil, their parents, and other participants. The Department of Communication of Montreuil will cover the event, and the news will be highlighted in the city's gazette. Also, a series of training workshops will be led by us and the young people towards the pupils of the middle and high schools.
