The resource consists of a collection of six games. You can access game instructions and digital versions of the playing cards for all six games online, which you can print. Each game is dedicated to a specific aspect of media literacy or digital skills and includes 30 cards with colourful images, texts, game descriptions, questions and tasks in a child-friendly and engaging format.
These six games aim to develop skills related to these topics, presented under the following titles:
- Observe, analyse, and act!
- Play and think critically!
- Read, understand, and comment!
- Know, don't guess!
- Speak the language of technology!
- Be safe online!
Schools, libraries, children, and youth organisations are invited and encouraged to select the most suitable themes or topics of most significant interest to children. They can then print and use these when organising classes, competitions, discussions, and other events and activities for children and youth within the school environment.
The Latvian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) also recommends using games in activities for children and youth in a broader context, such as cultural and educational regional events organised by the local municipalities throughout Latvia. For instance, these events may include children’s summer camps, family and youth festivals, city and regional events, and youth Centre meetings and events.
We made a small number of game kits with nice print and packaging, which were sent to Latvian regions for our Safer Internet Ambassadors (DIV). This resource tool, which has already been used widely during the summer period, especially during summer camps, is a great tool to use within local activities.
