Better Internet for Kids

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK)  developed this set of recommendations and answers to frequently asked questions for online creators,  advertisers and consumers. A guide is provided on how to avoid falling into the traps of influencer marketing. Consumers also learn how and where to report a mislabeled ad.

The National Strategy for Children's Rights 2021-2024 (Estratégia Nacional para os Direitos das Crianças 2021-2024) has five priorities: promote well-being and equal opportunities; support families and parents; facilitate access to information and youth participation; prevent violence against children and young people; enhance scientific knowledge and raise awareness on children’s rights.

The Council of Ministers Resolution 112/2020 approved the National Strategy for Children's Rights 2021-2024 (ENDC 2021-2024).

This strategy aims to combat cyberviolence, online harm, terrorist activities, and e-crime through preventive, educational, and innovative measures. In relation to children’s rights, the strategy determines activities focused on raising awareness of the safe use of digital technologies and developing online skills.

The Portuguese Charter of Human Rights in the Digital Era enshrines human rights and freedoms in the digital environment in a national charter, determining rights and duties related to online conduct, freedom of expression, internet use, disinformation, data privacy, and other topics. The Charter was approved by Law no. 27/2021, of 17 May, 2021.

The Curriculum Guidelines for ICT is an instrument designed to articulate digital skills and ICT as a cross-cutting area in the national curriculum (1st school cycle). This instrument clarifies how to develop digital skills, guide kids to access and use online services, online research, and effectively communicate using digital resources.

The National Strategy for Education for Citizenship (ENEC)  focuses on digital citizenship, addressing hate speech and cyberbullying, media literacy and education, sexuality, and cybersecurity. It includes a set of rights and duties  that must be present in citizen education of the Portuguese children and youth.

Without Bullying. School Without Violence""  aims to combat and prevent bullying, cyberbullying, and other types of violence. The plan is implemented in schools in Portugal through intervention mechanisms and educational projects articulated with the curriculum of each school, meeting the needs diagnosed by education professionals.

The Media Education framework is structured to offer a comprehensive approach to digital media in the national educational context. It encompasses ten educational principles for media use, objectives for digital skills development by school cycle, a curricular approach to media, and a methodological glossary.

The Health Education Framework supports health education in schools by promoting awareness objectives on mental health and violence prevention, nutrition education, physical activities, addictive behaviours, and sexuality.
