What do you do online?
Someone is being bullied online, a sexually suggestive photo is being spread, or a person is being excluded from a group chat. These online situations affect not only the young people involved, but also the rest of the class.
In the interactive videos of 'Act or React', students are taken through recognisable online situations. How do they deal with them? The videos provide an opportunity to start a conversation about hurtful behaviour during (mentor) lessons.
The materials include:
- A manual with tips on how to structure the lessons
- Videos: "Make up your mind" on online bullying and hate messages; "You're exposed" on shame sexting and exposing; "Sam's secret" on cancelling and excluding
- One explainer for each video, plus teachers' explanations on how to get started in the classroom.
Act or React is an initiative of Netwerk Mediawijsheid in collaboration with the National Science Agenda (NWA) and produced by Public Cinema. The project aims to create awareness about the impact of online behaviour, encourage prosocial behaviour, and make scientific information understandable and insightful.
