The lesson plan is targeted to the 5th-8th grade students of basic school. The needed time for carrying out a class is 45 minutes. The lesson plan includes an introduction in to the subject and discussions on different related themes: oppurtunities and risks related to use of social networks; age limits; which kind of information to share and with whom; which kind of personal data is sensitive; how to set privacy settings and why; etc.
An active participation of students is crucial as they should think over positive and negative aspects and make their conclusions. The role of the teacher is to initiate debates, explain different view points and to give feedback. For the conclusion students is given a homework either individual or group work. The resource includes also links to additionnal information material.
The resouce is meant to use in the classroom, but it is easy to customize for other awareness raising events.
