#Flashtag (NL)

“#Flashtag” adapted tool for a larger target group (from 10 to 14 year old)

The game “Le juste click” is one of the most demanded/ordered educational tools of Child Focus. There is a lot of interest in working on all the themes related to 'e-safety'. Internet and social media is a world where everything changes quickly. The digital world is no longer a separate world for children and young people, it is their global environment. Media literacy is also gaining in importance within the learning programmemes in education.

This is why we wanted to confront the players with more complex and nuanced situations that closely match their environment. The new version wants to make players think about the risks that specific choices may entail. This makes it much more realistic. The players immediately feel the consequences of these choices during the game.

#FlashTag also wants to bet more on collaboration. The players can all win or lose together. The players must discuss in groups how they will respond to the situations. After the game follows a major discussion in which dialogue and empowerment are prominent. This fits within the pedagogical vision of Child Focus, that we can make children and young people media-aware by sharpening their critical spirit and strengthening them in their self-esteem. Open communication and dialogue is, therefore, very important.

We decided to update the name of the game because we wanted to extend the themes covered by the game and to modernize the gameplay. The new title is "#FlashTag". The layout of the game was also thoroughly adapted.
We have also expanded the target group. The age has been raised to 14 years. Ten to twelve years old is the ultimate age to do prevention. However, thirteen and fourteen years old is also an important target group, as these young people take a new start. In a new environment with many new people, they have to try to find the personality and to become adult.
In short, a fun game, with a content that makes you think!
We produced 500 boxes #Flashtag and we are now disseminating them all over in Belgium
