Better Internet for Kids

That's why Child Focus, Mediawijs, Média Animation, CSEM (Conseil Supérieur de l'Education aux Médias), the Cyber Security Coalition, the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB), the FPS Economy and the cabinet of Minister Petra De Sutter organised an inspirational day for professionals to provide concrete material and best practices on digital media knowledge. Numerous tools were presented that day: Praten over sexting in het buitengewoon onderwijs, De Schaal van M, safe on web  and EDUbox Cybersecurity.   

Safer Internet Day highlights the importance of making the internet a fun, creative, educational and safe space for all. Celebrated in more than 110 countries, Safer Internet Day has quickly spread beyond Europe and has become an unmissable appointment on the digital calendar. The Belgian Safer Internet Centre (Betternet) coordinates this day in Belgium. Betternet brings together the key players of digital media education in every national language.

The focus was on the role that everyone can play in promoting positive and responsible use of the internet among minors. Professionals were therefore invited to participate in the conference "Together for a better internet" on 7 February 2023, live at the FPS Economy or online.  Numerous speakers such as Child Focus, the CSEM, the Cyber Security Coalition, the Center for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB), Média Animation and Mediawijs presented best practices and concrete material on different topics such as the protection of personal data, online safety, victim blaming and gender stereotypes online. This way, we want to inspire professionals to get started by themselves.
