GrooMix: a grooming prevention card game for professionals

Child Focus launched the card game GrooMix. This educational game aims to make children and teenagers aware of and resilient to phenomena such as online grooming. Grooming is the process by which an adult approaches a minor with a sexual purpose, either to meet them or to obtain explicit material. The game focuses on the (potential) victim perspective: how can you, as a young person, protect yourself against grooming and how to deal with messages from strangers?

As a teacher or facilitator, you can make the teenagers in your group aware of some of the risks associated with chatting online with strangers. Still, at the same time, you can also highlight the benefits of online friendships and relationships.

The card game recently won the October 2023 Insafe resource competition! The competition's prize money is currently being used to improve the resources and ensure the whole Insafe network can benefit from it.

Find out more information about the card game Groomix here, and you can order the game here; it’s free, except for the shipping costs.
