Reality Check

Title (original language): Reality Check

Reality Check is a component of the Austrian Youth Strategy (Österreichische Jugendstrategie) focusing on participation. It provides guidance on how the views and needs of young people can be incorporated into the development of youth goals and measures of the Austrian Youth Strategy.

Reality checks can be carried out in 3 different ways:

  1. Involvement of young people themselves
  2. Involvement of organisations with youth expertise
  3. Integration of youth-relevant research results

In addition to involving young people, the reality check can also be carried out with organizations that have expertise with young people and their living environments. Here, too, the focus is on exchanging ideas and reflecting on new ideas. Drawing on youth-relevant research results and evidence-based engagement with the target group can support youth goals and measures.
