Law of March 2, 2022 aimed at strengthening parental control over means of accessing the Internet

To better protect children on the internet, the law requires manufacturers of connected devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) to install a parental control system and offer its free activation when the device is first put into service. A decree makes the law applicable on September 5, 2022. Another text is still awaited.
the law facilitates parents' access to parental control tools. It makes the pre-installation of a parental control device mandatory on connected devices sold in France. The activation of this device must be offered free of charge to the user when the equipment is first put into service .

This new parental control system will apply to computers , smartphones , tablets , video game consoles and connected objects such as televisions , watches and speakers . Following an amendment by the deputies, telecom operator boxes and connected home automation devices that do not allow internet browsing have been excluded.
