Law 5029/2023: "Living in Harmony Together - Breaking the Silence": Regulations to Prevent and Deal with Violence and Bullying in Schools and other Provisions

On 9 March 2023, Law 5029/202321 was voted by the Greek Parliament. Article 4 of the Law refers to bullying and intra-school violence as any form of physical, verbal, psychological, emotional, social, racist, sexual, electronic or other violence and delinquent behaviour, which affects the school community and disrupts the educational process, including, inter alia, in particular an insult or discrimination or harassment on the grounds of a school student’s religious beliefs, ethnic origin, race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, gender characteristics (including sex characteristics), health and physical or other actual condition (age is excluded). The Law 5029/2023 targets violence and bullying at schools through educational programmes and actions. It includes preventive measures, such as strengthening trust and safety among members of the school community.
